No Kings Tributes
Across America
Irony is the experience of getting exactly what you ask for and finding you did not want that at all. There are other definitions, and I don’t care whether U.S. President Donald J. Trump has a similar understanding.
He said we should have a grand military parade for his inauguration. Then he said for Flag Day. Then he said, no, for the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday. He may not have mentioned that it's also his birthday, but we’re not surprised because he started engineering the parade after his first election. We’ve known from the start it’s all about him.
On June 14, 2025, the day he had our military parade past as if in honor of him, we the people staged more than 2000 rallies protesting his authoritarian, patrician misbehavior since taking office. He was probably pleased to have garnered so much
attention. Those rallies were about him, but they did not happen because of him. They happened because the U.S. Army, and all our military, spared us the burden of kings. In protesting we went out with signs and banners proclaiming "We don’t do kings here. No Kings!" We don’t do kings here because the Army of the United Colonies defeated the army of the King of England. The United States Army with the rest of our military have defeated king after king over the years since.
Our No Kings rallies were organized in protest of President Trump’s kingly behavior. In demanding that our military parade past his reviewing stand President Trump did not honor our military, he demeaned it and our nation. Ironically, he triggered a huge nationwide tribute to our military for making such responses possible. Our military keeps us free under the rule of law and free from the rule of kings
